September 11th, 2001

As if anyone could forget that date, or need a reminder of the terrible events of that morning, you can CLICK HERE to visit our 9-11 page and see the images that are forever ingrained into our memories.

Just like Pearl Harbor, President Kennedy's assassination, when Reagan was shot and the day Challenger exploded, everyone remembers where they were and what they were doing when the news broke.  As it seemed to be my lot in life, I was on deployment to the Middle East.  It was after 3 in the afternoon (8 am EST) before the news broke, and then everyone was glued to the television.  The helplessness was unbelievable, as we sat in a foreign country, guarding sand from Saddam Hussein, while thousands of miles away, on our own soil, an unknown enemy struck without remorse.  Confusion turned to chaos as word of the attack on the Pentagon came in ... we honestly felt the entire United States was under attack.  What would be next ... the White House?  Congress?

This was the beginning of Enduring Freedom, and who knows when it will end.
